Home Learning

We have been talking as a class about how we can be more creative with our home learning. As you know, Year 5/6 students are expected to learn weekly spelling words (except first and last weeks of term, and camp week), read every day and practice maths basic facts. They can also work on their writing at home on their Google Docs. Anything extra is up to them. Some students may wish to research something of interest to them or do something with their family as part of home learning.

Some people came up with some amazing ideas for making learning spelling words more fun.
Here are some of the ideas:
* Spell out your words with Lego or toys
* Bounce a ball or jump a skipping rope as you say your words
* Time yourself and see how quickly you can spell the words correctly

Jacob had a go at spelling out his words using Lego. Looks like fun!

HOMEWORK CHALLENGE
* Find out about Labour Day. Why do we have it? What is the history of Labour Day? Present your findings and give it to Mrs Hanson by this Friday for some house points (and maybe Treasure Box!)
