Twitter Design Competition

After our awesome Twitter chat today we were thinking about what we should do for our profile picture on our class Twitter profile.

I think it would be fantastic if someone in our class designed a logo for us so we could use it as our profile picture on Twitter.

It needs to include the words 'Team 23' and be colourful. See the 'POD 11' logo as an example. There are also some examples of other logos below.

Have fun designing! Designs are due to me by next Tuesday.

Awesome week 6

Hi my name is Josh and my name is Nisha and we are this week's bloggers.

On Tuesday we went to Blue Skies in Kaiapoi for the day with the whole senior school. We were put in groups and there were 24 groups in total. The activities were Flying fox, Confidence course, Initiative activities and fitness. Blue skies was awesome. Everybody enjoyed it and there was lovely weather. The parents that came from our class were Jake's dad Clayton, Paige's dad Bill, Zachariah's mum Sarah, Ben's dad Grant and Jarkwyn's mum Chontelle.

Every Wednesday our class does a Twitter chat on the laptops and the desktop computers. We have to choose a partner to work with and Mrs Hanson told us the 10 questions about creativity. Mrs Hanson said we could write our own tweet with a buddy and Nisha and Ben's tweet got replied by someone with over 2,000 followers. Next time we have to work with another buddy.

We also did another creativity task we started of with a odd picture then we had 10 seconds to complete it, then 10 minutes and the 10 minute ones looked a lot better. Once the 10 minutes was over Mrs Hanson told us to come down to the mat and she looked at the drawings and she choose some  for the wall. It showed us that creativity takes time.

On Monday we started our family description writing. Lots of people have started publishing it.The family description writing is our second piece of writing for our personal newspaper. The family description writing is about our family. Each paragraph is a different person in our family. We also started this new thing called literacy time, instead of separate reading and writing time. We personally love it.

Well that's all for this week because we have to go swimming right now so goodbye.

Twitter

We are loving our learning that we are doing through Twitter at the moment! The weekly questions are making us do some deep and inventive thinking. Come and see our Twitter wall to see what we are up to on Twitter. We did an awesome activity on creativity where we had a basic picture and we only had 10 seconds to finish it. Then Mrs Hanson gave us 10 minutes to work on it. The message we got from that is that CREATIVITY TAKES TIME! We also talked about inventions that we could think of that would make the world more awesome. We watched a youtube clip about the inventions that the Kid President came up with. You can watch the video too, it's linked in one of our earlier posts.

Kidsedchatnz questions for Wednesday's chat

Here are some of the questions that will be discussed on our next kidsedchatnz Twitter chat. You might like to record some of your ideas in your Home Learning book or prepare a tweet for Wednesday. Remember to start your tweet with @kidsedchatnz and it can only be 140 characters!

The next chat is about invention and creativity. We will be doing some work on this in class.

What are your interests, talents or passions?

What is the world's most important invention so far? How does it affect your life?

The top 10 jobs in 2013 didn't exist in 2004. What jobs do you think there will be in 10 years time?

Is creativity important? How can we encourage creativity in the classroom?

Room23's 1st half of term

Hello everyone I am Jamie and I am Millie. We have had a busy first half of the term.
On the first week of school room 23 made mini pictures of ourselves.
Mrs Hanson gave us a little person and we had to create it to look like us.

In week 3 we went to Aquagym. There were 4 groups in the little pool and 3 in the big pool I was in the big pool and so was Millie. We learnt a lot at Aquagym and got ourselves more confident for swimming sports.

At assembly we announced the leadership roles and deputy heads and head boy and girl Jamie and I
both got a leadership role. Our head boy is Will Easton and head girl is Niamh McKenzie. Deputy head boy is Jake Dickie and deputy head girl is Olivia Timbs.

Our class has been learning about Twitter and kids chat. We think twitter is very interesting and
we get to learn about other classes and were they are from. We did our first kidsedchatnz on Wednesday about digital citizenship. We have three followers at the moment.

Yesterday we had swimming sports the results were very good lots of people got into zones
and we are very happy for them. Everybody that was there tried their best and had fun.

Thank you for reading.
by Millie and Jamie.
